The Arab American Shorts program is your chance to hear from the Arab American community through cinematic shorts. All seven of these short films focus on issues important to the Arab American community, including discussions of identity, connections to home and sexuality. All shorts include Arab American actors and/or directors. [82 min.]

Salam

A female Lyft driver navigates the night shift in New York City while waiting to hear life or death news from her family in Syria.  [drama]

Salam is the type of film you go to a festival to see. Writer/director Claire Fowler’s short film is layered in both its storyline and characters. With a stellar performance by Hana Chamoun, this film is worthy of a conversation after the lights come up.

Mariam’s acceptance is historical to the community. This is the story of how Mariam leaves home, navigates her identity and finds her way back; all while tearing down barriers.
